Now this one is interesting! An East Chicago Councilman who had been charged for murder and was awaiting trial in an Indiana jail was allowed to keep his seat on the City Council and more infuriating he was still getting his $42,000 a year salary. this went on for months until they finally found a lega way to remove him from office. There by-laws stated that you could only fire someone who was convicted of a serious crime. So, because he had only been charged they could not legally remove hin from office. After reading about this older case some more I actually think he possibly could have been indicted on a RICCO charge. Or in the least conspiracy to commit felonies. But, I assume they did not have enough evidence for this. He should have also been charged with using his office in the Project to do all of the illegal things he and his cronies were doing.
