9 PRISON EMPLOYEES CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING FEMALE INMATES
This seems like a plot for a Lifetime Movie. I guess, it is "Life Imitating Art"? 9 guards were charged with sexually assaulting 16-inmates. This happened in a Prison in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. A spokesperson said these incidents were supposed to have happened many years ago. He did not say how many. But, it almost seems like it could end up being a ME TOO! type of situation. The only reason it probably isn't is many of the women have moved on and cleaned their lives up and probably do not want to embarrass their families and themselves because they would have to tell everyone and G-d that they were once in prison and even worse than that is they will have to tell why they were in prison in the first place. Then, as if it could not get any worse for these victims if they would tell. The defendant's attorneys would bring up every little nasty detail of their old lives. Placing blame on the women. But, I do not know how that would work for them because if they would even admit to having sex with an inmate it would be considered RAPE. But, I am sure that just bringing up some of their old Police Records would do the job.
Not all defendants had sexual relations with the women. Some just helped threatened and terrify the women into accepting their fate and scared them and threatened their families if they told anyone.
However, from the way it appears, I do not think they had anyone they could go to, to disclose what was happening to them. Because it appears that some of the participants had high ranking and one had the highest ranking within the jail, the "Warden" himself.
The spokesperson who was insinuating something when he said some of these incidents were supposed to happen to them a very long time ago must not understand how sexual assaults work on the psyches of victims. It is not unusual at all for it to take the victims years before they can muster up the courage to even tell someone. Let alone tell the police. And in the cases of these victims, it would be even harder to tell because they have to go to the Cops and make a report. And I am sure these specific victims view them as part of the American Penal System. After all, the police are the ones who arrested them and got them put into jail in the first place. They would think of them as part of the same system that allowed them to be raped. So, it would take some extraordinary courage for them to tell period.
